Church folk can sometimes use words that aren’t heard much elsewhere. The word “stewardship” is one of those. Jesus teaches a lot about being a steward in his parables. A steward is a person who has the job of managing another person’s property or financial affairs.
Because we believe everything in this world is created by God and belongs to God, our call in baptism is to be good stewards of the earth, of our relationships, and of all the resources around us. That means we understand our time, our skills, our gifts, and our money to belong ultimately to God. We are just holding these things during our lifetimes. Make sense?
All our members and friends at Pilgrim are invited to use wisely all that has been entrusted to them by God or the community. We do that by encouraging each other to be grateful for God’s gifts by being generous with our own. We share our financial resources, our time, our areas of expertise, and our interests to expand our ministry.
So, look around our church, and you’ll see Pilgrims filling up the Food Pantry on North Lake Dr., bringing in a cello to play for Sunday worship, teaching our children about Jesus, leading our popular preschool, serving in the community, and making Christ known wherever they go. Join us on this stewardship journey!
